A strategic project for the reliability of the electrical grid
The modernization of the Barcelonnette source substation (63/20 kV) marks a key step in the transformation of the Enedis network in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. By transitioning to an all-PCCN (Digital Control Command Substation) architecture, this project aims to ensure a more modern, secure, and efficient network for the coming years.
After the civil engineering renovation (carried out outside ACTIA Energy’s scope), ACTIA Energy teams were mobilized to ensure all control-command, digital protection, and cabling aspects, with a methodical approach guaranteeing service continuity throughout all project phases.
A large-scale project, structured in 4 steps
1. PCCN Substation Core Setup
- Installation of the BA/DT cabinet
- Deployment of AUTO/SUP and CNR packages
- Fiber optic, shielded RJ45, wired backup connections
- Integration of UAs (outside ACTIA Energy’s scope) and rectifier blocks
- Commissioning of the TCFM (B6000 ITRON)
2. Integration of Schneider half-racks
- 2025: TR 312 – cabling and installation of 8 protections
- 2026: TR 311 – same services
- Installation of PNM (Digital Protections)
3. Connection of transformers
- TR 312 in 2025 then TR 311 in 2026
- AR/TR cabinets, junctions, CNT, LV connections
4. Progressive Commissioning
- First commissioning in 2025 with TR 312
- Full integration planned for 2026 with TR 311
ACTIA Energy’s expertise at the heart of the project
ACTIA Energy brings strong added value to this project:
On this large-scale project, ACTIA Energy mobilizes all its expertise in digital control-command to ensure both efficient and secure execution. The in-depth mastery of the PCCN architecture, combined with the ability to intervene without service interruption, constitutes a real asset for this type of sensitive modernization.
Throughout the project, ACTIA Energy ensures compliance with the technical and normative requirements defined by Enedis, while ensuring fluid coordination with the client teams. This close collaboration allows for anticipating needs, effectively responding to field constraints, and ensuring perfect operational continuity.
The quality of execution, the rigor of processes, and the reliability of implemented solutions are at the heart of ACTIA Energy’s commitment, for an exemplary project and a successful digital transition of the Barcelonnette source substation.
A Two-Phase Schedule
- Phase 1: March to September 2025 – Commissioning of TR 312
- Phase 2: March to September 2026 – Commissioning of TR 311
This project fully illustrates ACTIA Energy’s commitment to supporting Enedis in the modernization of its critical infrastructure, combining cutting-edge technology, industrial know-how, and field commitment. Through the modernization of the Barcelonnette source substation, ACTIA Energy actively participates in the sustainable and secure transformation of the French electrical grid.
