The CIP9030 Substation Interface Calculator, installed in RTE’s Substation Groups and Equipment Supervision Room, is a remote terminal unit (RTU) that provides:
- management of local alarms (danger alarms, intrusion alarms, etc.)
- access management (opening of gates, opening of main gates, etc.)
- lighting management (lighting in corridor xx, etc.)
In order to perform its functions, the station interface calculator acquires station information and controls the alarm boards using its logic input/output (I/O) cards. The acquired data is transmitted to the supervision centres via the IEC 60870-5-104 protocol.
With its two CPU cards and two integrated power supply modules, the CIP9030 ensures good operational continuity, thus guaranteeing the safety of operators.
The CIP9030 RTU is modular and can integrate 1 to 10 digital I/O management modules, configured according to the data volume of the station. This represents a capacity of 160 logic inputs and 120 logic outputs. Extensions can be added to increase the data volume to up to 496 logic inputs and 372 logic outputs.
Playing a central role in the target architecture of RTE’s highly ambitious PLASMA project, cybersecurity is essential for the CIP9030. Consequently, the equipment incorporates the latest cybersecurity specifications, including, among others, hardening, Active Directory-based authentication, file transfer via SFTP, and function partitioning.
